Dayal Chandra Chakma Elected New Chairman of Chakma ADC

Kamalanagar, 20 October, 2015: Dangu Dayal Chandra Chakma was elected today uncontested as Chairman, Chakma Autonomous District Council. The office of the Chairman was rendered vacant following the resignation tendered by Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya on 21 September 2015. His resignation was accepted on 25 September 2015 by His Excellency the Governor of Mizoram. Continue reading

New CEM, CADC Gives Call to Clean All Offices

Kamalanagar, 9 October, 2015: The new CEM, CADC Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya who was sworn in on 5th October called for a cleanliness drive to clean all the offices under CADC. The programme started at 6:00 in the morning. The CEM himself with his colleague members took part in the programme.

All the officers with their respective office staff took to cleaning the offices since early morning. The cleanliness drive is part of the Swatch Bharat programme.

Kali Kumar Tongchangya Appointed as New Chief Executive Member, CADC

Kamalanagar, 28 September, 2015: Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya who has resigned from the office of Chairman, Chakma Autonomous District Council on 21/9/2015 has been appointed today as the Chief Executive Member, Chakma Autonomous District Council. This will be his second stint as CEM, CADC.

CADC Celebrated 69th Independence Day

Kamalanagar, 15 August, 2015: The 69th Independence Day was celebrated at Kamalanagar, the headquarter of Chakma Autonomous District Council. Dangu Dr. B. D. Chakma, Minister of State graced the official celebration programme held at Kamalanagar football playground as its chief guest.

The national flag was unfurled at about 10 am to the chorus chanting of the national anthem.

Chakma Council Passed Budget on Vote on Account

Kamalanagar, 17 July, 2015: The Monsoon session of Chakma Autonomous District Council which started on 15th concluded today. The sitting discussed and voted the Vote on Account on estimate of expenditure for the period upto October, 2015.

The Vote on Account presented on the first sitting on 15th made an estimate for an expenditure of Rs.981.71 Lakh and Rs.1751.83 Lakh under plan and non-plan sector respectively. A lion share of the estimate of Rs.2658.87 Lakh is for payment of salary to staff. Only a meager Rs.74.67 Lakh is left for disposal to take up administrative and developmental activities.

Chakma Council Monsoon Session Starts

Kamalanagar, 15 July, 2015:The first session of the 9th ChakmaAutonomous District Council for the current fiscal year started today. The full budget could not be presented because of non-receipt of budgetary allocation from the state Government in full. The CEM, CADC opted for a Vote on Account on estimates of expenditure for the period April to October’ 2015 for plan sector and for the period June to October’ 2015 for Non-plan sector.

44th CADC Day Celebrated

Kamalanagar, April 29, 2015: Chakma Autonomous District Council completes 43 years today. In the year 1972, on this momentous day, the Chakmas living along a narrow strip of south western part of Mizoram within the then Pwi-Lakher Regional Council were put under an autonomous district council under the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India to allow them to safeguard and promote their distinct ethnic and cultural identity. However, an equal number of Chakma population remained outside the ambit of the Council to the north western part of Mizoram.

Total Literacy Drive Programme Launched at Kamalanagar, CADC

Kamalanagar, April 22, 2015: Lawngtlai District one of the three targeted districts for total literacy drive had its Total Literacy Drive Launching Programme organized today at Kamalanagar, the Headquarter of Chakma Autonomous District Council. The Programme was organized by Lawngtlai District Working Committee on Literacy Drive whose chairman is District Education Officer, Lawngtlai.

Election to Village Councils Under Chakma Council, 2015 Held Seccessfully

Kamalanagar, February 26, 2015: Yesterday, 81 village constituencies of Chakma Autonomous District Council went to poll to elect village council members for a term of five years. Of these the Congress won with absolute majority in 62 village councils, the BJP in 7 Village councils, the MNF in 2 village councils and it was a tie in 4 village councils. There are some 28,127 voters all together in all the 81 village constituencies.

Mizoram Rural Bank Opens a Branch at Kamalanagar

Kamalanagar, December 15, 2014: The long wait for a Branch of Mizoram Rural Bank at Kamalanagar is finally over. Today, a branch has been opened inaugurated by Dangu Buddha Lila Chakma, CEM, CADC. It has been the effort of successive authorities of CADC to establish a branch of MRB at Kamalanagar.
