Kamalanagar, 30 April 2016: The BJP won the Mondirasora MDC by-election of Chakma Autonomous District Council which was held day before yesterday. Three contestants were in the fray, one each from INC, BJP and MNF party. Dangu Onishmoy Chakma, Dangu Laxmi Bikash Chakma and Dangu Purna Chandra were the candidates for INC, BJP and MNF repectively. Dangu Laxmi Bikash Chakma secured 605 votes, Dangu Onish Moy Chakma 369 votes and Dangu Purna Chandra 180 votes. Continue reading

45th CADC Day Celebrated
Kamalanagar, 30 April 2016: The Chakma Autonomous District Council completed 44 years yesterday. On 1st April 1972 the Pawi-Lakher Autonomous Regional Council was trifurcated into Chakma, Lakher and Pawi Autonomous Regional Councils which were further upgraded into Autonomous District Councils on 29th April 1972. Chakma Council Budget Session 2016-17 Starts
Kamalanagar, 14 March 2016: Chakma Autonomous District Council today sat for the first sitting of the Budget Session 2016-17. The sitting discussed two unstarred questions and two starred questions. Two officials Bills namely CADC Group A & B Gazetted Service Ruleβ 2016 and CADC Group B Non-Gazetted Post C & D Service Ruleβ 2016 were introduced by the House Leader Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya, CEM, CADC. Four MDCs of Chakma Council Sworn-in as Executive Member
Kamalanagar, 20 November: The remaining four Executive Members of the new Executive Committee of Chakma Autonomous District Council were sworn-in today. With this the Executive Committee of CADC gets to full strength of eight members including the Chief Executive Member.
The MDCs who were sworn-in as Executive Member are Dangu Parimal Chakma, Dangu Buban Kumar Chakma, Dangu Amit Kumar Chakma and Dangu Purna Muni Chakma. They were appointed by His Excellency the Governor of Mizoram on recommendation of the new Chief Executive Member Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya. Continue reading
CADC Full Budget Passed; CADC (Employees Pension Fund) Rules, 2015 Referred to Select Committee
Kamalanagar, 16 November: The CADC Full Budget 2015-16 was discussed and passed today in the third sitting of the Winter Session. The Budget was introduced in the first sitting of the Session held last Thursday by the House leader Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchagya, CEM, CADC.
The budget was earmarked by the state government for an amount of Rs.3860.00 Lakh under Non-plan and Rs.1921.33 Lakh under Plan as Normal Grant-in-aid. The projected Local Receipts is Rs.83.55 Lakh. The estimated expenditure of the Budget is Rs.4640.77 Lakh under Non-plan, Rs.2218.94 Lakh under Plan and Rs.83.55 under Local Receipt Fund which sums up to Rs.6943.26. Under the given circumstances there is a net budget deficit of Rs.1078.38 Lakh; Rs.780.77 Lakh under Non-plan and Rs.297.61 Lakh under Plan. The Budget deficit is hoped to be met out of Additional Grant on the approval of Revised Estimate 2015-16 in the later part of the fiscal year. Continue reading

New CEM, CADC Gives Call to Clean All Offices
Kamalanagar, 9 October, 2015: The new CEM, CADC Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya who was sworn in on 5th October called for a cleanliness drive to clean all the offices under CADC. The programme started at 6:00 in the morning. The CEM himself with his colleague members took part in the programme.
All the officers with their respective office staff took to cleaning the offices since early morning. The cleanliness drive is part of the Swatch Bharat programme.
Kali Kumar Tongchangya Appointed as New Chief Executive Member, CADC
Kamalanagar, 28 September, 2015: Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya who has resigned from the office of Chairman, Chakma Autonomous District Council on 21/9/2015 has been appointed today as the Chief Executive Member, Chakma Autonomous District Council. This will be his second stint as CEM, CADC.

44th CADC Day Celebrated
Kamalanagar, April 29, 2015: Chakma Autonomous District Council completes 43 years today. In the year 1972, on this momentous day, the Chakmas living along a narrow strip of south western part of Mizoram within the then Pwi-Lakher Regional Council were put under an autonomous district council under the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India to allow them to safeguard and promote their distinct ethnic and cultural identity. However, an equal number of Chakma population remained outside the ambit of the Council to the north western part of Mizoram.
Election to Village Councils Under Chakma Council, 2015 Held Seccessfully
Kamalanagar, February 26, 2015: Yesterday, 81 village constituencies of Chakma Autonomous District Council went to poll to elect village council members for a term of five years. Of these the Congress won with absolute majority in 62 village councils, the BJP in 7 Village councils, the MNF in 2 village councils and it was a tie in 4 village councils. There are some 28,127 voters all together in all the 81 village constituencies.
